Thomas Young Gill’s parentage is uncertain. Information from DAR records gives strong evidence that he may be son of Thomas Gill, who died in 1805 on Buffalo Creek in Stokes Co, NC.

Our information originally showed him as the son of William Gill (-1797) and Susan Young (daughter of Thomas Young, 1732-1829). But this Susan was born in 1756, making her only 5 years old when Thomas Young Gill was born. Her father’s 1732 birthdate makes it likely Susan’s 1756 birthdate is correct.

According to http://www.sciway3.net/clark/gill/wmiredellconc.html there were several Thomas Young Gills in the family; the one born to Susanna was born c1778/9 in VA, died after 1850, and married Elizabeth born c1780 in VA. This TYG was definitely not the father of Meeky Gill, whose parentage is well documented.
